Just like his Mom, Dar, Matt likes to photograph bugs. She is very professional about it her husband even had a book of her work printed (we have a copy if anyone wants to have a look). Matt is still at the point and shoot stage of bug photography. These are my favorite recent pictures.

I can't tell how big that "pug bug" is. But if it's about as big as your thumb and makes a lot of noise, I think it's a cicada.
Ummmmmm...fire-roasted cicada's are tasty with chili pepper and melon.

I am pretty sure I would have textural issues with the crunch.
Back in 2004, we had a bumper crop of cicadas here in the Midwest and one could not walk across campus without the accompanying "crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch" (I'm sure you get the idea. What’s more, you DO NOT want to think about your shoes in situations like these--just throw them away after wearing) Anyway, the good folks in the Chicago area--America's reigning culinary capitol--came up with a number of ways to prepare the crunchy, protein-rich, bit of tastiness. I’m sure if you google it, you can find some recipes that don't accentuate the crunch.

Tell Matt he should visit our backyard. I've found some of the freakiest bugs I've ever seen back there like an evil, scorpion, spider, centipede, looking thing.
